Yes, I Did Remove the Day by Day Cartoon

For the handful of people wondering, yes, I did in fact remove the Day by Day cartoon. It was not something I did with great joy. As one person said today:
"Day by Day"...is a pretty brilliant strip sometimes...
On its good days, which are very frequent, Day by Day is utterly fantastic.

But on its bad days, as the same fellow said a word or two later:
...which today starts right off with an objectionable word, and often has objectionable imagery.
And yes. Yes it does.

I'm not a terrible stickler for language issues. I've been in the Marines, where foul language is used more like punctuation than anything else, and very often offense is neither given nor taken when it's used. I don't cuss anymore myself, but I recognize that language is always in flux; what some people consider cussing, others don't. I could go into more detail about this, and probably will at some point, but right now, just be aware that I'm not necessarily prepared to concede that because my grandmother (or her entire generation) considered a given word to be a cussword, it thereby retains that status for all people in all generations to come, and therefore am inclined to grant people the benefit of the doubt from time to time when it comes to their language. Again, this is not all I have to say on the issue, so please don't assume that you're familiar with the entirety of my reasoning on the subject.

But the objectionable imagery part...

He's right. I've excused it on the grounds that he doesn't do actual nudity, and that on the good days, the strip is utterly brilliant, but the bottom line is that there are days when you could be forgiven for thinking that the artist is recalling a recent Playboy issue.

I'm sorry if you liked it. You can always go to the artist's website. But it's gone from here.
